Die Demons, Die! Because every game is better with a song :)

Mark your calendars! Book of Demons is exiting Early Access on December 13th, exactly a week from now. To kickstart the daily countdown, we’re releasing a music video!

If you’ve already played Book of Demons during early access, you know the game is not all serious, and it was meant to be this way. In fact, we knew right from the start, that we would want to have a song in the final act of the game. After all, what can be better than a jolly sing-along after a long day of slashing monsters and “swimming in their guts”?

We had a lot of fun creating the “Die Demons, Die” song, but it was also quite a challenge. We had some experience from our previous, casual games, most notably Magic Match, which featured 7 songs sung by none other than Barry Seymour (Barry is the voice Sage in Book of Demons). You can check them out here.

But now we wanted a song with 4 voices, singing both solo and in chorus. This was tricky, as none of our actors ever met, and each recording was done separately and in a different studio. Making everything fit together required a hefty bit of digital editing magic, but we’re quite happy with the result and we hope you enjoy it too 🙂

Song Vocals

Julie Shields – Barmaid
Vesta Millard – Fortune-Teller
Jeff Jorgensen – Healer
Barry Seymour – Sage

Song Lyrics

Die, Demons Die! (Sha la la)

Our bishop was crazy, proclaimed himself pope
Made friends with the demons, guess he was on dope
He offered his soul to the depths of the hell
And now you can tell – things ain’t very swell

Sha la la la lie – die, demons, die!
Sha la la la lie – why won’t you die, tonight?

Dark tides have befallen the lands of the men
Our heroes are slaughtered time and again
The Archdemon’s army stands now awaken
But our paper world is not yet forsaken!

Sha la la la lie – die, demons, die!
Sha la la la lie – why won’t you die, tonight?

Behold! Someone brave has answered my prayer
Why, it’s you! Our kind and most handsome player
Hope and delight can return to our hearts
Please kill the demons, but save their private parts!
Ekhm… For potions! Of course..

Sha la la la lie – die, demons, die!
Sha la la la lie – you better hide tonight.

The Archedemon screams and trashes in rage
Sinister schemes go down in bright flames
The traveler slashes, chops, dices and cuts,
He will kill the demons, and swim in their guts!

Sha la la la lie – die, demons, die!
Sha la la la lie – now you will die, tonight!

Sha la la la lie!!!!
